Also, interesting that 2 of these films are V/O films.
I don't agree with anyone who eschews Voice Over in film
Arguably a great many of the best (undisputed classics) films have them

Fight Club
American Beauty
A Clockwork Orange
American Psycho (hilarious edgy satire on 80s materialism, c.f. Fight Club!)
Sunset Blvd
Citizen Kane
Casablanca
(and a vast, long list that I could expand on at length but won't here...)

Anyway, bravo, thanks for this post.

Great stuff again Margaret!

Love also that you included `Fight Club' as an example...

(it also happens to be: my favourite work of cinema, not that, it's important)

I am shocked every time I read that script (FIGHT CLUB) - at just how great it is.

I know the book very well too - but, the film is actually BETTER than the book, IMHO.

(Which I find is rare... `Deliverance' would be another example too...)

It's actually a film with a very clear - and very radical - `philosophy' underpinning it; precious few films do that.

But the story of `how it happened' (made it to the screen) means, it all makes sense (and, the ironic fact that Fox tried to bury it - once they realized, `what it was' - eg as somewhat shown, in the film `WHAT JUST HAPPENED?')

Anyway - great post, very inspiring
