That's a great summary observation of Sheridan! The other thing that really struck me as a viewer (and being a horse person, rodeo filmer, cattle musterer on some occasions) is how brilliantly he captured the tone of those rough and tumble cowboys and cowgirls. A scene where Sheridan character is being hard on the "loser character" he gives him great advice. "you're making it about you, you gotta make it about your horse" - it's a great line from Yellowstone. He was admonishing the character but setting him on a course correction. All done on so many levels in just a few lines. What a unique addition he is to Hollywood!

In anticipation of his magnum opus’ nomination at this year’s SAG Awards, Sheridan balked at the tendency of many ‘Yellowstone’ viewers to over-analyse plot, character dynamics and arcs…While certainly no celebrity/dignitary, I can’t help but wonder if he was taking a swipe at an avid consumer like me, who is turned off by the glorification of forceful, vulgar-mouthed women like Beth, who (mind you) is privileged and not impervious to luxury and superficial indulgence…

DON’T GET ME WRONG — have thoroughly enjoyed the show, but wholly unimpressed by EVERYONE’S treatment of Jamie, i.e. the scapegoating; abuse, torment and hypocrisy shown by the likes of Beth, John, even Rip; etc…

ABSOLUTELY: What the adopted Dutton did to Beth was reprehensible, and killing the Native American reporter was heinous; but John had no business adopting Jamie if the former was going to try NOT to love him like a son, cf. Season 4 finale, and not respect his wish to become whatever he chose (i.e. cowboy).
