It’s a short newsletter but not without the usual namedropping. I’ve been hanging with cool people! But first a big thank you to all of you who have purchased the Kit, the List or signed up for the newsletter.
(In a hurry? Skip straight to The Story Series below.)
I’m back from my second international lecturing tour. With fellow speaker Luke Devenish, I toured three Filippino cities, met with a Governator and collected more Facebook friends than ever over the same period. Read my first impression on the blog.
Teaching a blockbuster team
The Story Tour Asia came and went. Highlight was a two-day workshop with the creative team of Star Cinema, a true movie studio and creator of pretty much every recent Filippino blockbuster. We all learned from each other; they were happy with my workshop and it seems I might return later this year.
Working with an (other) Oscar nom’d client
Recently I did a story analysis for a client/friend in Belgium, only to realise later that his team has an Academy Award nominated film on the credits. Dries, who was sitting in on the call, attended the ceremony this year. I’m proud to say I now have two regular clients with a nomination on their credits.
The ultimate screenwriting course
This week I will be finally reconnecting with my students at IFC on the Gold Coast but the next big thing will be the Story Series in two weeks time. If you’re in Sydney and you’ve never attended any of my seminars or workshops, I want you there:
www.storyseries.net
Over 40 hours of story and screenwriting training, more than one hundred pages of online material, $350 worth of bonuses including a full license of Final Draft plus an introductory booklet and a perfectionist’s checklist. What’s not to like… See you in Coogee?
If you’re not in Sydney, sit tight. The second edition of the online screenwriting workshop will go live soon, with faster access for anyone anywhere in the world. And there’s always the Kit and the List to get you started.
Finally…
To conclude, I am asking you a big favour. Would you please forward this message to one friend or contact you believe could benefit from my services? One only. You can use the button on the right.
Thank you so much.
Cheers,
Karel
